An absolutely stunning and quite early edition of Prescott's famous work on The History of the Conquest of Mexico in notably fine condition.

Uniform full near contemporary calf with intricate gilt tooling to the spines, retaining all six tooled red and green morocco labels. Spines uniformly sunned but show very attractively indeed on the shelf with the gilt and labels bright. Light wear to extremities. Light rubbing to joints with all boards securely attached. No shelf lean. Page edges coloured red with top edges dulled as typical. Boards fine. Light shelf wear. Bookplate to front pastedown of each volume of Hugh Ballantyne. Some foxing to endpapers and foldout maps else very clean throughout the text blocks. Collated as complete through each text block including the half titles.
