The second Biagioli edition of Dante's classic, following the first in 1819. This is a very well respected edition of Dante's Divine Comedy and scholars often recommend this edition.

Provenance:

Bookplate inscribed "Canning" depicting a plain shield with three heads facing to the left, and a crown above. Potentially belonging to George Canning, Chancellor in 1827. Probably previously sold at Christie's, with bookmarks with lot number 121/37 found inside these books.

Spines with minor rubbing and very minor scuffing. Tooled labels present with very small fragments lacking from edges. All boards securely attached with very minor wear to joints and hinges. Boards scuffed and prominently rubbed. Shelf and edge wear. Dulling to page edges. Bookplate attached to front pastedown in all volumes with pencil inscription to the bottom left corners. Text blocks fairly clean with light toning and very minor foxing to edges. Minor marks on pp.291 in volume one. Minor wear to ribbon page markers.
