The Expulsion of Hagar and Ishmael from the House of Abraham after Adrian van der Werff, Dutch, circa 1720-1750, oil on canvas, framed.
-------------------
A very finely executed copy after the original with vivid chiaroscuro and phenomenal dynamism in the painting. The skin tone is of particularly fine quality, as are the flowing robes. It is executed on a large scale and housed in a complementary giltwood frame. An extremely attractive painting.

Size incl. frame: 880 x 1050 mm (approx.)
Size excl. frame: 705 x 868 mm (approx.)
Condition:
Extensive craquelure across the surface of the canvas. The canvas is slack in the stretchers. Repair patch on the verso, invisible on the recto. Some chips to the frame with areas reglued and some areas of discolouration as typical.
