Bookplate (and gift inscription to) Grace Cicelie Lonsdale, who was the Countess of Lonsdale, and thus this book was held at Lowther Castle, one of the most magnificent extant castles on an estate over 90,000 acres. This castle is also depicted on the very nice Art Deco style bookplate.

Condition: FINE
Contemporary very fine half green morocco finely tooled in gilt. The binding is unsigned but resembles the quality of Sangorski & Sutcliffe, Zaehsndorf, etc; this binding is of superlative quality. The boards are backed in vellum. Binding in fine condition. All edges gilt, near fine to fine. Bookplate to front pastedown with a gift inscription dated 'Xmas 1908' to front blank. Some light foxing to half title leaf, and to page edges but this is only visible when the leaves are spread, else internally in fine condition, and collates as complete with abundant coloured plates throughout.
