A noble fragment of the 1620 first edition of Brent’s Historie of the Councel of Trent, this copy comprising the complete text of the first four books of the text (379 pages), without the title leaf.

A noble fragment, lacking the main title but otherwise complete up to the end of book four of the text, terminating at 2I4. The complete text, if extant, would extend through to 4B2.
Half neat modern black leather over marbled paper backed boards. Binding secure, in fine condition save for some minor shelf wear. Remnants of a removed bookplate from the front pastedown
Large edge worm tracks in blank marginal space to first two quires without text loss, small worm tracks in places thereafter, some a little larger causing small closed edge tears without loss of sense to text; the extant text is legible without loss of sense throughout. Some attractive contemporary marginalia, sporadic, including fine manicules, else generally bright and clean throughout.
