Uniform contemporary cloth with tooled black labels to each spine which are rubbed with a bit of loss, more so to the later volumes. Light wear to the extremities of the bindings but they are externally very good. Some discolouration to the bindings with a few small marks. Small modern sticker to each front pastedown of a prior owner with a further pencil ownership inscription to each ffep verso, dated 1925 in volume one. Each volume is textually collated as complete. Some extremely mild foxing affecting endpapers and the odd spot throughout with some darker staining to the yellow endpapers - a result of the foxing on the recto. A very smart set of Hume and Smollett's classic history of England.
