The History of England, From the Invasion of Julius Caesar, to The Revolution in 1688. By David Hume. London, 1826. [Together with] The History of England From the Revolution in 1688 to the Death of George the Second by Tobias Smollett, 1825. [Together with] The History of Great Britain From the Death of George the Second to the Coronation of George IV by J.R. Miller, 1825. Published by Jones and Company.

-------------------

A beautiful edition of David Hume's famous work on the history of England, here bound into just one volume instead of the usual five or six. Together with Tobias Smollett's continuation up to the Death of George II, and also with J.R. Miller's continuation after Smollett up to the Coronation of George IV, uniformly bound into three volumes.

A really fantastic set bringing together the three canonical antiquarian works on the topic of English history in very attractive half calf bindings.

Size: 142 x 223 mm (approx., each)

Condition:

[xii, 992pp]; [xvi, 618pp]; [vi, 464pp]

Near contemporary uniform half calf leather over marbled boards, each volume retaining both tooled morocco labels. Spines rubbed, particularly in the lower compartments, with a little discolouration. Joints also a little rubbed but structurally secure with all boards securely attached. Shelf wear. Boards slightly scuffed but generally near fine. Top page edges uniformly slightly dulled as typical else very good with a bit of foxing visible when the pages are spread, else obscured by the spotted design. Bookplate to front pastedown of each volume. Endpapers a little foxed else very clean through each text block, occasionally foxed/toned at the illustrations as typical. Blank in third volume creased and folded. Overall a very good set.
