Half navy morocco over blue marled paper backed boards with gilt titles to spines in compartments between raised bands. The volumes show nicely on the shelf. Very small loss of gilt to spines. All boards attached with rubbing along joints and some hinges cracked. Boards lightly rubbed and scuffed. Shelf and edge wear. Page edges dulled and darkened, more so to top edges as often. Ownership inscriptions to front pastedown in volume one, and title pages in all volumes. Title pages and first few leaves in all volumes with edge tears, some loss but no loss to text. Text blocks fairly clean with light toning and occasional foxing, as well as some odd damp staining. Title pages in volumes two and five repaired with a new backing. Tear to pp.497.498 in volume three with some small loss of text. Pp.482 in volume five repaired with a small piece of paper, not covering any text.
