Condition:

[(1), frontis, t.p., 6pp., pp.1-294, foldout map, pp.295-424, (1)] - 234 plates (over 126 leaves), as well as a frontispiece and a foldout map.

Full brown calf binding, worn, rubbed and scuffed with wear to extremities. Small fragments of the backstrip lacking from the head and bottom of the spine. Both boards very loosely attached with cracked joints and hinges, thus very fragile. Shelf and edge wear. Page edges toned. Pencil ownership inscription to front pastedown. Tear with loss to the bottom corner of the front blank and frontispiece. Ink ownership inscription to the title page. Occasional small tears and tears to corners with loss to occasional plates. Small holes to text from plate 116/117 to plate 120/121, including pp.153-156. Some double sided plates are inserted on the wrong side, so some plates show the plates in reverse order, for example plate 170/171 shows plate 171 before 170, and plate 186/187 shows 186 before 187. Large tears to foldout map. Very small hole to pp.345/346, affecting a very small part of the text. Ink inscription to the margin of pp.389 reading doing a math calculation of 1722 - 1648 = 74.  Pp.394 printed over a crease so there is a diagonal line of separation of the letters/word. Text block and full page plates collate as complete. Lacking two of three maps called for on the title page.
