Contemporary full calf bindings, spines finely tooled in gilt, each retaining their original tooled red morocco labels. A little dulled with minor rubbing, but a very attractive set on the shelf. Joints rubbed but uncracked, secure, with all boards securely attached. The bindings are secure. All edges marbled. Without any attached bookplates or ownership inscriptions, internally very clean throughout. Mildly toned through the text but generally very clean and well preserved. The full text is legible without loss of sense. There are a total of 10 finely engraved plates including the frontispiece through the first volume, nine of which are foldouts, none in the second, as published. An excellent set, collated as complete, including the original blanks.
