Undated title page but appears to be the 1857 edition as references by the National Library of Scotland (see reference below). The library notes the page numbers in the two volumes and the presence of engraved title pages of the "Edinburgh Castle with the New Chapel Tower" by W. Forrest, which are both present in these volumes.

Spines scratched, rubbed, and scuffed. Tooled labels present with minor loss to the labels of volume two. The bottom left corner of the backstrip of volume two very lightly detached from the spine. All boards attached with wear to joints and hinges, some cracked. Boards scuffed, scratched, and rubbed, with minor marks. Shelf and edge wear. Dulling to page edges. Pen ownership inscription to preliminary in volume one. Prominent loss to plate facing pp. lxviii in volume one. Damp stains to the first few leaves in volume two. Text blocks fairly clean with light toning and minor foxing.
