A beautiful finely bound large copy of the Life and Explorations of Dr. Livingstone with a beautiful colour title page and foldout maps at the rear. The binding is far superior than typical examples, this example also having some lovely clasps.

Original publisher's deluxe binding affixed with two engraved metal clasps. All edges gilt. Binding a bit rubbed, metal mounts a little discoloured. Hinges reinforced with rubbing along the joints. Both boards are securely attached, very slight shelf lean. Remains very attractive on the shelf with bright gilt. Endpapers and first and last few pp heavily foxed as typical with minor foxing through the text block.
