Near contemporary full tree calf bindings (also known as marbled calf). Spines uniformly sunned, lightly rubbed, but generally very good to near fine, showing very attractively indeed on the shelf. Joints lightly rubbed but near fine with all boards securely attached. No shelf lean. Boards with some light superficial scratches but overall near fine with that excellent glossy texture. Minor shelf wear. Ink gift inscription to ffep verso dated 10th October 1882 in volume one (only). No attached bookplates. Internally very clean. The bindings are unsigned but resemble those of Riviere or Morrell.
