A beautiful edition of Thucydides, finely bound with the text in both Greek and Latin.
It is very rare to find a complete example of this set, as it is most commonly found in odd volumes in less than desirable condition. This is a very rare opportunity to acquire this beautiful and particularly important edition of Thucydides' History of the Peloponnesian War, complete and in excellent condition.

Condition:
Spines expertly rebacked in a sympathetic manner to the style of the bindings, preserving the earlier boards which are either original or very near contemporary. Hinges reinforced. Joints fine with all boards securely attached, the bindings secure and without shelf lean. The set shows very attractively on the shelf with the spines near fine with a few marks and some very light rubbing. Some wear to corners, shelf wear, etc. Top page edges dulled as typical, all edges with a marbled design matching that of the endpapers. Text blocks toned with an extremely small amount of foxing affecting the first and last few leaves of some, but not all, volumes. Generally internally clean and fully legible. All volumes are textually complete. A very good set indeed.
