-------------------
G.F. Bodley [George Frederick Bodley] was not primarily known as a poet, but rather as a prominent British architect and designer. He lived from 1827 to 1907 and is best known for his contributions to the Gothic Revival movement in architecture during the 19th century.
He began his career as an architect after studying at King's College, London, and later at the Royal Academy Schools. Bodley gained recognition as a skilled architect with a deep appreciation for the Gothic architectural style.
Bodley's architectural work is notable for its dedication to the principles of the Gothic Revival, which sought to revive and adapt the medieval Gothic style in Victorian England. He collaborated with fellow architect Thomas Garner, and their partnership led to the creation of numerous churches, cathedrals, and other ecclesiastical buildings across England. One of his most famous projects is the restoration and redesign of the interior of Westminster Cathedral in London.
In addition to his architectural work, G.F. Bodley was also involved in interior design and decorative arts. He crafted intricate furnishings, stained glass windows, and other decorative elements for the buildings he designed. His attention to detail and commitment to preserving the Gothic tradition made him a leading figure in the Arts and Crafts movement. He of course also released this collection of poems in 1899.
