The Simon Davies copy with his inscription dated 1789. A beautiful set, remarkably presented in beautiful fine bindings in a manner very much reflective of the content, unrestored.

Size: 110 x 172 mm (approx., each)

Condition:

Contemporary full calf bindings finely decorated in gilt, each volume retaining its tooled red and green morocco labels. A very well presented set, showing very attractively on the shelf, roughly duodecimo. Bindings a little rubbed, minor losses as typical, but generally very good, with all boards securely attached, bindings secure, and without shelf lean. Page edges very good or better, tops slightly dulled as expected. Ownership inscription of Simon Davies to ffep and heads of title pages dated April 1789, else generally very clean throughout each volume, some dampstaining to the final few leaves ion the second volume, not obscuring text, all text without loss of sense. A very good set.
