The Prophecies of Nostradamus. Circa 1790.

-------------------

A very scarce and interesting manuscript on paper of Nostradamus' prophecies including a life of Nostradamus. The first four pages are later tipped in notes circa the 19th century, also with some later notes to the front free endpaper. The scribe of this copy is unknown, but the title page and text follows the 1689 Cologne edition with some additions, one of which is the 27 page "Explications Sur Les Centuries de..." which is quite possibly an original work of the scribe, which ends with King Stanisław of Poland arriving at Luneville in 1748.

Provenance:

Bookplate of Daniel Ruzo, the famous Peruvian archaeologist and Nostradamus collector.

Without internal reference, but from the Fred Gettings Library, occult author, etc.

Shelf lean but remains upright. Red spotted page edges dulled. Lacking headcap and tailcap. Bookplate attached to the front pastedown. Leaves generally very clean with light edge toning, very sporadic foxing, and few cases of damp staining. The handwriting is very neat. One small wormhole going throughout the whole of the text.
