Provenance:
Bookplate and gilt crest on front board of King's School, Canterbury. The gilt crest bears the inscription "Regiae Cantuariensis Sigilum Scholae" (Seal of the Royal School of Canterbury). The bookplate is signed by the headmaster and dated 1953.
On the school's website: "The King's School is part of the Cathedral Foundation which dates to the beginnings of Christianity in Anglo Saxon England at the time of St Augustine's mission in 597...".
King's School is Britain's oldest public school, according to Wikipedia, and one of the oldest continuously operating school in the world.

Note inscribed "Life membership fee £2.20" and "With the Secretary's Compliments". The words "Artillery House, Earl's Court, London S.W.5" have been crossed out. Stamped "Artillery House, 68 Woolwich Common, S.F. 18".

Spine lightly rubbed. Both boards securely attached with rubbed joints. Boards with very minor superficial scratches and marks. Minor shelf and edge wear. Rubbed corners. Page edges lightly toned with very minor foxing. Bookplate attached to front pastedown. Endpapers foxed. Text block very clean with light toning and very sporadic very minor foxing. Uncollated.
