The Spy Who Loved Me by Ian Fleming. London: Jonathan Cape, 1962.

FIRST EDITION FIRST IMPRESSION, complete with its original first state dust jacket.

-------------------

The only of Ian Fleming's James Bond novels to be written in the first person from the perspective of a woman with whom James Bond has an affair. This character is humourously credited on the title page as co-author.
This is a particularly nice example, particularly with the external condition of the dust jacket owing to this being an attractive example on the shelf.

[i-x, pp.11-221, blank]

A VG+ to Near Fine book in a G-/G dust jacket.

Original publisher's cloth binding with the silver dagger with blindstamped hilt to the front board. Gilt to spine and front board are both very bright and without fault. Joints and hinges fine with both boards securely attached. No shelf lean. Spine head slightly bumped as typical but without loss. Very minor shelf wear, corners without deformity. Foxing to page edges with the top edge most affected. Original red endpapers with an ink ownership inscription to ffep verso, undated. Very clean through the text block without any foxing, writing, tears, stains, etc. Internally fine aside from the ownership inscription to ffep.

Dust jacket price clipped with some minor loss at the foot and head of spine panel. Verso of dust jacket reinforced with what appears to be Japanese Kozo tape and thus is near transparent and is externally near unnoticeable. This reinforces the hinges of the dust jacket. Dust jacket toned throughout but non-uniformly, with the spine panel affected most as typical but also the foot of the rear panel and top margin of the inner flaps as typical. Some staining to verso of spine panel which is visible to the front upon close inspection, also slightly affecting the inner part of the front panel.
