The Story of Homer's Iliad 1904
Size: 133 x 195 mm (approx.)
Condition:
[vii, 314pp]
Shows very attractively indeed on the shelf with bright intricate gilt to the spine in compartments between raised bands. Spine slightly rubbed but generally remains very good to near fine with some rubbing at extremities and minor loss at head/foot. Rubbing to joints, slightly cracked at the foot of the front joints but with both boards securely attached. No shelf lean. Boards a little rubbed with some loss to the upper rear corner of the rear board, else very good. Page edges marbled with matching pastedowns/endpapers. Some foxing to page edges but this is only visible when the pages are spread apart due to the marbling obscuring this externally. Without any attached bookplates, but with an ink ownership inscription to front free endpaper of D. Bethell, dated July 31st 1907 at Winchester House, Eastbourne (UK). Small stain to pp.51-52 which affects the surrounding few pp (approx pp.50-57), else very clean throughout the text block.
