-------------------

Size: 145 x 217 mm (approx.)

Condition:

Spines show attractively on the shelf. Some light rubbing, mostly to the raised bands, and very minor loss to the gilt. Shelf wear & general wear to the extremities. Light scuffs to marbled paper backed boards as typical, though generally a bit better than usually found. Minor rubbing to and across the joints, but with all boards securely attached. The bindings are secure. Extremely slight shelf lean to the first volume but with both volumes well balanced. Edge toning of endpapers as commensurate with the binding. Light dampstaining affecting a few leaves throughout, with some occasional light transfer to plate verso pages. Minor foxing to endpapers but not affecting the text blocks. Generally internally clean and fully legible.

A very good set of this first edition, first issue of Thackeray's Virginians.
