An excellent set of Alexander Pope's works in eight volumes, a scarce Edinburgh imprint of his collected works, here presented in fantastic uniform contemporary bindings. The set is complete in eight volumes, not to be confused with the nine volume London imprint of the same year.

Contemporary full calf, uniform, each lacking tooled labels, but with titles sufficiently visible nonetheless. Spines a little dulled, but generally remain very attractive. Repeating floral motif in gilt in compartments between raised bands of the spines. No design to boards. Minor loss to leather of some of the boards. All boards are securely attached without significant wear to any of the joints. Ownership inscription to title pages of each volume as pictured. Small loss to rear blank in first volume. Some wormholing to the foot of the last ~15pp of volume five, catching a few letters of text, but not affecting sense of text. Front pastedown of eighth volume has come away from the pastedown itself and now serves as a blank, thus collated with (3) blanks in this volume. Very clean through the text blocks. An excellent set of Pope's works.
