Modern fine binding, full calf, spine tooled in gilt in compartments between raised bands. Both boards are securely attached, the binding stands without shelf lean. The binding is secure. Very attractive. Front board slightly bowed. Page edges very good without staining. Some contemporary marginalia in places, but very sporadic and light, mostly present through Troilus and Cresseide. Scattered foxing throughout, but largely clean, mildly toned. Two leaves dog-eared. pp.519 mispaginated as 517 as printed. Some dampstaining in the upper margin and corner of the leaves at the end of the page block (glossary), never obscuring any text, and generally fairly light. Textually collates as complete, including glossary and errata page at rear, without original blanks, but lacks main title and associated frontis, but with the frontis for the Life of Geoffrey Chaucer preliminary section which depicts Chaucer.
