The Works of Hesiod, Printed by the Elzevir Press in 1667.
-------------------
A beautiful bright copy of the Elzevir Press edition of Hesiod, with their characteristic printer's device to the title page. An excellent bilingual edition with the original Greek and Latin translation on opposing pages. This copy is bound with Lectiones Hesiodeae with the notes of Scaligeri and Guieti, also published in 1667.

Contemporary, probably original, full vellum binding with later writing to the spine reading 'Hesiodi quae extant'. Vellum a little discoloured with corners bumped, but generally very good and externally very attractive. Both boards securely attached with joints secure, uncracked, with the binding secure and without shelf lean, but the binding has a slight tendency for the boards to move outward as typical. Top page edge dulled as typical, others very good. Endpapers a little stained, with several ownership inscriptions of varying date to ffep verso, one of which appears to be near contemporary. Mildly toned through the text block, but generally bright and clean with a few very light pencil marginalia to the Greek side of the text, written in Greek, seemingly only to the first 20pp or so. Else an excellent copy.
