Full brown calf bindings, finely rebacked retaining the original boards, with brown tooled labels in compartments to the spines between raised bands, other compartments with decorative gilt. Gilt dates to the bottom of the spines of volumes two, three, and four, but not to volumes one and five. Bindings lightly rubbed and scuffed. All boards attached with some hinges cracked/starting. Shelf and edge wear. Spotted page edges somewhat dulled. Some volumes with slight shelf lean but all remain upright. No attached bookplates. Ink ownership inscription to the half title and title page in volume one, and to the title pages in volumes two and four. Text blocks very clean with occasional foxing. Damp staining to the first few leaves in volume two, primarily to the first plate facing pp.1. Half title lacking in volume five. Top of pp.5/6 in volume five repaired, not affecting any text. Plates transferred onto pages opposite. Plates are uncollated. Small tears to the top to leaf 3C1 in volume four.
