It appears that the Faust in this set is the first English translation of Faust to be published with both parts together. Parts 1 and 2 were separately published by the same translator and then brought together here. Several of the others are also likely first English translations, though certainly not the Autobiography, Conversations, or Poems. In any event, this is a very early set in English of the works of Goethe.

A very good to near fine set, being remarkably attractive.
Delightful fine bindings, half calf over marbled boards with intricate bright gilt to the spines. Bound by Mudie with each binding signed at the foot of each ffep. Spines uniformly sunned though remain very bright indeed and show very attractively. Some light rubbing visible upon close inspection and a bit of shelf wear & wear to extremities. Tooled labels all present and show well. Some very light rubbing to and across the joints, but with all boards securely attached with the bindings remaining firm. No shelf lean. Top page edges uniformly dulled as typical with other edges very good. Boards near fine, without the scuffs which usually affect the marbled paper backed boards and therefore significantly better than typical bindings of this period. Text blocks very clean and bright with a small amount of foxing affecting the endpapers, else without.
