An excellent example of this famous and important edition of Suetonius, the "Bipontine Edition", so named from a famous series of 50 books printed by Greek and Latin classical authors, began in 1779 and continuing for a few years.

19th century half calf over paper backed boards, retaining a very attractive tooled blue morocco label. The spine has compartments lined in gilt separated by raised bands and is very attractive on the shelf. Binding a little rubbed, but secure, with both boards securely attached; the binding is without shelf lean. Top edge dulled as typical, else edges remain very good. Partial remnants of a removed bookplate to front pastedown. Endpapers edge toned and thus was presumably originally in a typical full calf binding. Some minor spotting/foxing to some preliminary leaves including half title and title pages, but generally very clean throughout the text block. Collates as complete including the half title and the extensive 52pp index and Graeca Suetoni section.
