A lovely 18th century octavo edition of Tacitus, each volume being illustrated with a frontispiece (only).

Contemporary full calf bindings, rubbed with loss to gilt and spine labels. Joints cracked but with all boards securely attached, though with the front board of the first volume slightly more fragile. Bookplate of Lord Sandys to front pastedown in each volume, with a further inverted to the rear pastedown in volume two, pencil shelf reference to ffep verso in each volume. Lacks half title to the first volume if called for, else collates as complete.
