Size: 107 x 172 mm (approx., each)

Condition:

Uniform full calf bindings with raised bands delineating compartments containing paper labels and gilt volume numbers. Minor rubbing to spines with some losses at extremities. Joints a little rubbed to most vols. Joints of the first volume cracked to both sides with the boards insecurely attached, fragile, appearing to have been glued quite some time ago. Generally clean throughout the text blocks. There is some writing in the 33rd volume including the comment “in this the prayer of an atheist” at the end of Voltaire’s “Poem Upon the Law of Nature”. Some beautiful scientific foldout plates in the volume pertaining to Newtonian philosophy. Many leaves dog-eared in volume 34. Title page torn in half in volume 36 though without loss and when laid down shows normally thus an easy repair. A very nice, despite being incomplete, set of Voltaire’s works.
