Uniform tree calf bindings, bound by Bickers & Son, stamped at the base of the front pastedown in each volume in gilt. The set shows well on the shelf, but the spines are rubbed with some loss at the extremities. All tooled labels are present, some a little discoloured. Shelf wear. All edges gilt, bright and attractive. Joints rubbed with some cracked but with all boards attached. Front joints of eighth volume cracked but with the board securely attached, appears to have been glued at the joints but functions normally and well. Some discolouration/sunning to boards but with most very good or better. Without any attached bookplates or ownership inscriptions. Internally bright and clean with a few spots of foxing to endpapers as typical, toned through each text block but very good overall.
