First edition, first issue, with the first edition title page, in the publisher's cloth (binding A) and with the first edition dust jacket.

- pp.72, line 31, "Regents Park" for "Regent's Park".

- pp.74, line 13, "Privy Councillor" for "Privy Counsellor".

- pp.147, line 26, "CIA" for "C.I.A.".


 

Binding A vs. B.

- The difference in bindings A and B is the colour of the gilt on the spine.

- Binding A with gold gilt.

- Binding B with silver gilt.

In the original publisher's cloth with gold gilt title to the spine. Binding near fine with a small white mark to the rear board and small dent to the bottom corner of the front board. Both boards attached with minor wear to joints and rear hinge, front hinge starting. Very minor shelf and edge wear. Page edges lightly toned with minor foxing. Ink inscriptions to the front blank. Foyles sticker attached to the front pastedown. Text block fine. Dust jacket in a clear protective sleeve, thus in an amazing condition, with few very small edge tears.
