-------------------

Winnie the Pooh is a classic children's book written by A.A. Milne and illustrated by E.H. Shepard. The book revolves around the adventures of a bear named Winnie the Pooh and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. Pooh is a lovable, but somewhat dim-witted bear who loves honey, and often gets into silly situations with his friends, including Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, and Rabbit. The stories are simple and sweet, and often impart lessons about friendship, kindness, and the importance of imagination. The book has been beloved by children and adults alike since its publication in 1926, and has spawned numerous adaptations, including films, TV shows, and merchandise.

Condition:

A very nice example of this book. Front board without any sunning or fading with some minor bumps to corners. Rear board with some minor spots of discolouration which are generally unobtrusive but remaining very good. Some fading to spine with some damage to top and bottom of the backstrip with headcap and tailpiece remaining in very good condition though with a very small amount of the top of the backstrip lacking. Binding slightly cocked by about 4mm. Toning to verso of pastedown on map as typical. Ink gift inscription on front free endpaper dated to 1928 ("To Maudie, from Dave, Xmas 1928"). Half-title onwards throughout text block without any toning or foxing. Text block in near fine/fine condition without any colouring in of illustrations, writing, etc. Excellent internal condition. Bookseller stamp to bottom of rear free endpaper, probably from the original retailer of this book given the offsetting to the verso. Verso of rear pastedown map also toned as typically found. Page edges very good, some minor discolouration to top edge gilt.

A highly attractive example of this wonderful first edition.
